Born in Houston and raised in Charleston, Garner discovered a passion for dance and theater early on. She gained fame as Sydney Bristow in Alias (2001-2006), winning a Golden Globe, and starred in films like Catch Me If You Can (2002), Daredevil (2003), Juno (2007), and Dallas Buyers Club (2013). Garner also appeared on Broadway in Cyrano de Bergerac (2007).

A dedicated philanthropist, she serves as an ambassador for Save the Children and co-founded Once Upon a Farm, a company focused on healthy, sustainable baby food.
